Persian Halva is a traditional sweet dish that has an excellent delicious taste. To cook Persian Halva, you need flour, butter, and sugar. Moreover, rosewater, cardamom, and saffron are the essential ingredients of this recipe.

  • 1 cup flour (wheat flour)
  • ½ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 cup of water
  • ½ cup of rosewater
  • 3 tablespoon liquid saffron
  • ½ tablespoon cardamom ground
  • cup sliced pistachio


  • Pout the flour into a pan and saute it until its colours change a little bit. (the white colour will change to cream)
  • Add oil and saute for some more minutes.
  • Mix water and sugar and batter them on medium heat until the sugar disappears.
  • Add saffron to the mixture of sugar and water.
  • Add rosewater to the syrup.
  • Add cardamom ground to the flour.
  • Add syrup to the flour and mix them until you get the soft but not juicy texture.
  • Serve it in any way you like. You can form it with bakery shapes, or just flatten it in a tray.
  • Place pistachio slices to decorate your Halva.


Uniqop’s Advice:

Use 50 oz butter instead of vegetable oil for a better taste.
Add the syrup severely. Taste Halva and adjust the sweetness by adding adequate Halva.
Stay next to the flour while sauteing. It can quickly burn.
You need to saute the flour at least for one hour.
