Sadaf Wild Rue Seeds – Esphand 4 oz is packed with high-quality wild rue seeds. The product package is easy to use and store with a zipper on it. You should keep the product in a dry place in room temperature. The product will not expire, but we suggest you use it within a year for a better scent. You can either use this product solely or blend it with other aromatic seeds. To use the product, you should burn some of it (about one teaspoon) in a pot on the stove. Note that this product is nor edible. To use the product properly, pout one teaspoon of Esphand into a small pot and heat it until all the seeds burn. Revolve the pot in the house and let the aroma flow into air.
Why burn Esphand?
Wild Rue seeds or Esphand (its Persian term) is mostly used in Iran, India, and some African countries. It has a pleasant aroma when they burn it. Most Iranians have especial pots for burning Esphand. People burn it solely or blend it with some other seeds, such as Boswellia. Traditional herbalists believe that burning Esphand (Wild Rue) may have antibacterial properties. Many people burn it to make a great scent in the room. It has a strong aroma and burning one teaspoon of it can make a house aromatic.
When to burn Esphand?
Iranians believe that burning Esphand not only makes the air aromatic but also protects people in front of voodoo, and peril energies. Therefore, they usually burn these seeds in important occasions such as a wedding party (to protect the newlyweds), after travellers, etc. However, many Persian housewives burn Esphand each Saturday or Wednesday to protect their family from whammy and to make their houses aromatic. Aside superstitious, burning Esphand makes a pleasing scent and may have antibacterial properties.
