The term of “Mast o Moosir” is the translation of shallot yogurt, in Farsi. Shallot is a kind of vegetable from allium families such as onion, garlic, chives, alongside leek, and scallions. The ingredients that you need to make homemade Mast o Moosir are yogurt, shallot, salt, olive oil, dried crushed mint leave, and Rosepetal. If you prefer, you can add some black pepper, too. These ingredients are easily available for everyone who wants to make this delicious side dish.

How to make Mast o Moosir?

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of yogurt
  • 3 large fresh shallots
  • 1 teaspoon shallot
  • 1 olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • Rose petals as much as you need for topping
  • 1 teaspoon crushed mint leave

Instructions

  • Peel the shallots and wash them.
  • Place the washed shallots on a paper towel to drain completely.
  • Mince the shallot. You can chop the shallot instead of mincing it.
  • Add minced shallot as well as salt, black pepper, and olive oil to the yogurt.
  • Mix them well until you have a smooth combination.
  • Pour it into a serving bowl.
  • Cove it and put it into the refrigerator to chill completely for almost 6 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  • When you want to serve it, uncover it, and decorate it with Rose petals and sprinkle with crushed mint leave.

Notes

Uniqop's advice

  • If fresh shallot is not available, you can use the dried ones. In this case, you need to boil 2 cups of water and pour the shallots in it and let them soak until getting soft. Drain and rinse the water and dry them thoroughly. Now you can use them in your Mast o Moosir recipe.
  • You can store it in the closed container and the refrigerator for a few days.
